WELCOME TO THE COMMANDO JOE’S PAGE

Hello I’m John Wagstaff, Eskdale Junior’s Commando Joe.

I’m relatively new to the role at Commando Joes having only started in April of 2022. Since my appointment I’ve worked in 2 primary schools within Nottingham, 1 in Leeds and have experience leading sessions in Secondary schools across Yorkshire and Derbyshire.

Prior to my role with Commando Joes, I attended University at Sheffield Hallam acquiring a HND in Leisure in Recreation Management, BSC in PE in Youth Sport and MSC in Sport Business Management. My working life has been spent initially in Sport and Leisure as a; Recreational Attendant, Pool and Beach Lifeguard and Sales Manager. I then traversed from Leisure to Fitness working as a; Fitness Instructor, Personal Trainer and Group Exercise Instructor. I progressed to the role of Fitness Operations Manager for the Indoor Sports and Fitness at Sheffield Hallam along side lecturing on the Undergraduate Sports Science and Physiotherapy course. My most recent employment involved delivering Fitness Qualifications in Personal Trainer Level 3, Fitness Instructor Level 2 and a variety of group fitness qualifications.

Alongside my role as a Commando Joe Trainer I continue to deliver Personal Training from my own fitness facility at home. I’m massively passionate about coaching people, helping them to become the best version of themselves. I have a 7 year old son, being a Dad has transformed my world and I love the responsibility of being a parent. My weekends are now spent creating adventures and making memories. I know through personal experience how important good education and commitment is in young peoples life.

My role at Commando Joes is something that I’m privileged to do. Building  and developing character through our missions is so gratifying. Commando Joe’s run a character curriculum in schools where children have the opportunity to follow ‘MISSIONS’ based on some amazing and inspirational people. We believe that children should be given the time, support and resources to be able to learn valuable life skills. The excellence framework that we use is based around RESPECT character traits teaching.
